Who We Are
Our Staff
John Buechner. John is the President of The Mercy Project Colorado. He is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University, has a Masters in Public Administration from the University of Colorado and a Masters of Divinity from Denver Seminary. John also works as a consultant for McGrath Communications Group and is a University Associate for the college ministry at his church in Boulder. He and his wife, Lori, live in Westminster, CO and have three children – Stephen, Holly and Carolyn.
Mike Jones. Mike is a Vice President and Secretary for The Mercy Project. He is a graduate of Garden City Community College and serves as the Chief Building Official for the Building Safety Division of the City of Louisville, Colorado. He and his wife Jeanne’ are also Co-Directors of The Heritage House, a shelter for at-risk girls, ages 12-21. Mike has over 11 years of experience with teenagers struggling with drug and alcohol abuse and is passionate about providing restoration for girls who have been unable to remain in their homes for a variety of reasons.
Ed Messman. Ed is Vice President for Operations with The Mercy Project and brings over 13 years of experience working with early stage companies. Ed has established and managed a portfolio of technology centric companies covering software, internet and communications. He holds a degree in International Finance from Grand Canyon University and an M.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Ed and his wife, Cathryn and their family live in Superior, Colorado.
Jacquelyn McCoy. Jackie serves as Vice President for External Relations with the Mercy Project. She holds a degree from the Art Institute of Colorado, and is an Adolescent Care Specialist and Administrator in Louisville, Colorado. Jackie is currently finishing a degree in Marketing and lives in Louisville with her beautiful daughter, Annabelle.
Our Board
Lori Buechner. Lori is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University with a degree in Psychology and has a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) from Eastern Washington University. She is the Director of Library Services for Jefferson Academy High School in Broomfield, and often serves as a women’s retreat speaker, particularly in the area of healing and intercessory prayer.
Elodie Emig. Elodie joined the adjunct faculty of Denver Seminary in 1988 and became a full-time instructor of Greek in 2004. In addition to her duties at the Seminary, she is also on the pastoral staff of New Song Fellowship and the leadership team of Where Grace Abounds, a local ministry to persons with sexual and relational struggles. She has written numerous articles on the Bible and homosexuality and holds an M.A. in New Testament from Denver Seminary.
Peter J. Fetterly. Peter is an attorney of the McCollum Crowley firm and has been involved with large scale fire and explosion litigation his entire legal career. He has handled matters in both State and Federal courts, and is licensed to practice in the Colorado and Minnesota State Courts as well as the Federal District Courts in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, and Wyoming. Peter also serves on the Board of Directors for Cornerstone Christian Academy in Westminster, Co. He and his family live in Broomfield, Colorado.
Carol Hathaway-Clark. Carol serves the Mercy Project as a Board member and works professionally as a Clinical Psychologist. She received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1991 and has had a psychotherapy practice ever since. Her practice serves a broad age range of individuals and couples, from those in their teens to those in their nineties. Carol and her family live in Longmont, Colorado.
James Johnson. Jim graduated from Kansas State University with a Business Management degree, and he has worked as a sales and marketing representative for NetScout, Inc. for over 7 years. Jim and his wife, Sandy are adoptive parents and have been active in promoting adoption and orphan care/rescue for several years.
Leif Redal, MD. Leif is a board-certified family practice physician with Northwest Family Medicine in Superior, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed his residency in Family Practice in Tacoma, WA. Leif’s continual interest in the advances of medicine ensure that his patients get cutting-edge care.
Wendy Redal, Ph.D. Wendy is a freelance writer and editor and she often teaches in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado. She was formerly program coordinator for CU’s Center for Environmental Journalism and retains a strong interest in how media cover environmental issues, and how audiences engage them. She and Leif live in Boulder, Colorado.
